“Women
in mining communities experience harassment by businessmen,
mining contractors, company security guards and government
soldiers around the mining areas. Domestic violence, rape
and prostitution have increased and women are at heightened
risk of contracting HIV/AIDS and other STD infections from
a transient male workforce”
